I’ll admit it — I’m pretty lazy when it comes to fitness. I’d rather spend my post-work evenings curled up on the couch with a cocktail than out on the road in my Reeboks.
However, I know it’s important to live a healthy lifestyle — and that includes eating well and getting at least SOME exercise on occasion.
SO, I’ve decided I’m going to learn to like exercise. Or at least attempt to like it.
While I’m obviously not a personal trainer or dietitian — or any type of person who should be giving advice on food or physical activity — I will share with you my plans for the next month-ish when it comes to eating well and exercising a little.
- Run at least ONE mile; more if you can handle it. It doesn’t matter if it takes you 8 minutes or half an hour — just get it done!
- 25 sit-ups
- 10 push-ups
- 10 squats
- Drink 64 oz. of water
- Eat three complete meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) with a small, healthy snack in between
- No eating less than two hours before bed
- Limited intake of alcoholic beverages (a glass of wine from time to time is OK)
As I mentioned before I’m trying to learn to LIKE this type of lifestyle. And I know that if I am super strict, I will never succeed. So, I am giving myself weekends “off,” if you will. I’m not going to pig out on Snickers and down bottle after bottle of Miller Lite, but I will at least cut myself some slack if I’m not on my absolute best behavior.
We’ll see how this works for a few weeks. Either I’ll love it or I’ll hate it. But hey — at least I’m trying!
Do you have any workout tips or diet tricks that you’d like to share? I’d love all the help I can get!
